Global Forum Online (PJP) trains incarcerated writers to be journalists and publishes their stories. We aim to empower a marginalized community to be a vital voice in criminal justice reform by bringing transparency to the world of mass incarceration.

Our journalism is free to everyone. We do not accept advertisements nor do we have paywalls. We seek and earn funds aligned with our mission, and we rely on these gifts to carry out our vital work. All donations made to PJP support our primary mission and our activities. We maintain a strong firewall between our fundraising and editorial departments, and our donors support our commitment to complete editorial independence.

PJP is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN-87-3805290). All contributions or gifts to Global Forum Online are tax deductible.

Accepting financial support does not mean we endorse donors or their products, services or opinions.

We accept gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals, organizations and foundations to help with our general operations, coverage of specific topics and special projects. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates as a public trust, we do not pay certain taxes. We may receive funds from standard government programs offered to nonprofits or similar businesses.

As a news nonprofit, we avoid accepting charitable donations from government entities, political parties, elected officials or candidates seeking public office. We will not accept donations from sources whom we deem to present a conflict of interest with our work, compromise our independence or harm our financial sustainability.

PJP will always ask potential donors to disclose who they are, but we also recognize that sometimes a donor may have legitimate reasons to want to remain anonymous. Thus, PJP may accept anonymous gifts and anonymous donor-advised fund gifts for endowment, or for unrestricted support, but acceptance of such funds will require approval by PJP’s grants acceptance committee comprising PJP’s chief executive officer, chief education officer, chief operating officer and chief development officer. Specific board members may also contribute to those discussions.
