A list of citizenship has been issued in Assam ,40 Lakh people risk to losing citizenship Today I will going to discuss latest topic related to Assam NRC list, what will be the next step with non citizens and why Govt are doing this….

A list of citizenship has been issued in the Northeastern state of Assam, according to which **40 lakh** people settled in the state are not citizens. According to the list, **2.8 million people** living in the state are legitimate citizens. > The National Register of Citizenship, i.e. [NRC][1], has names, addresses > and photographs of all Indian nationals who have been living in Assam > since **March 25, 1971**. The first draft of NRC was published on the > midnight of **December 31, 2017** . This is the first time that the people in the state can get information about illegal living. In Assam, the Assam accord in the state is slightly different from applicable citizenship law. According to this, people entering the province **till midnight of March 24, 1971** will be considered as Indian citizens. ## So what will be the next step with non citizens ## ![Assam NRC list][2] It is also assured in the National Citizen Register that those who have not been identified as legitimate citizens will not be deported. A senior police official said that in order to maintain law and order security has been tightened in the entire state. ## Those who do not have name in the list, they will get the opportunity again ## There will be enough opportunity for those who do not have names in the draft. If the names of real citizens are not present in the document, they do not panic. Rather they will have to fill the form specified in the respective service centers. > These forms will be available between **August 7 and September 28** and > they will have to explain why their names in the draft leave. > > After this, in the next step, they will have to fill in another > designated form to file your claim, which will be available from > **August 30 to September 28**. Applicants can see their names in the NRC > service center, from 30 July to 28 September in all working days from > **10 a.m. to 4 p.m.** ## Why Govt are doing this ?? ## In order to evacuate people living illegally in Assam, the government has started the National Register of Citizens (NRC) campaign. That is, the people living illegally will be identified first and then they will be sent back to their country. In order to send back the infiltrators in Assam, this campaign has been running for nearly **37 years**. After fleeing from **Bangladesh in 1971** during the freedom struggle of Bangladesh, people came to India and settled there. Due to this, **violent acts of locals and intruders were several times**. There has been a movement to send back the intruders from the 1980s itself. ## Reaction of political parties.## The **opposition TMC, Congress, CPI(M) and SP** criticised the government over the publication of the list, saying it puts "human rights and democratic rights" of people at stake. ![mamata reaction on assam NRC list][3] > Trinamool Congress of Bengal Chief Minister **Mamata Banerjee**, who > accused the ruling BJP of trying to identify and isolate people who > don't vote for the party **Rajnath singh tweet :-** ![Rajnath singh tweet on assam nrc list][4] [1]: http://nrcassam.nic.in/ [2]: https://globalforumonline.com/media/special/Assam_people.jpg [3]: https://globalforumonline.com/media/special/west-bengal-chief-minister-mamata-banerjee.jpg [4]: https://globalforumonline.com/media/special/twitter-nrc-rajnaath_singh.jpg
