Marcia Maziarz joins PJP as director of development

May 12, 2022 — Global Forum Online (PJP), a national initiative that trains incarcerated writers to be journalists and publishes their stories, today announced that Marcia Maziarz has been appointed to serve as the organization’s first Director of Development.

“We are honored to have Marcia lead the formation of our new fundraising team and to welcome such an experienced partner who shares our vision and deep passion for the work we do,” said Yukari Kane, co-founder and co-executive director of PJP. “Marcia brings decades of experience in fundraising and strategic development initiatives at major media nonprofits and public institutions, and her expertise will be invaluable as we continue to seek new and meaningful ways to grow our organization.”

As PJP’s first Director of Development, Maziarz will be responsible for much of the philanthropic revenue that enables PJP’s work of telling stories from behind and around prison walls and training incarcerated writers in the tools of journalism.

“I'm so excited to join the dynamic team at Global Forum Online,” said Maziarz. “I look forward to helping the team and our Board of Directors expand an informed and bipartisan public discourse around mass incarceration.”

Over Two Decades of Experience

Maziarz has over 25 years of professional experience in fundraising and strategic development in the non-profit sector. She most recently served as the Chief Development Officer for the Center for Public Integrity, one of America's oldest, Pulitzer-prize winning nonprofit newsrooms. She has also worked in senior development roles at the DC Public Library, the Institute of Contemporary Art and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.

PJP recently announced that it was awarded a major grant from the Education Fund and an inaugural grant from The Just Trust to build a sustainable organization, fund the development of its newsroom and expand training offerings through its PJP J-School program.
